Semesters of Change

There was no chance to quit studies after intermediate for me as I could not cheat my parents. My parents were caring and faithful to me. So I had to do something. In our country there is only one option for students after choosing PCM that is B.Tech from any prestigious college to show the people that we are in race. And these fools are not aware that why are they following the trend of B.Tech. I also aspired for B.Tech but my aim was just to get the degree so that no one can call me illiterate. But from inside I was always seeking knowledge not the marks. Though I did not scored 90% or more but I was confident and conscious.
My journey towards Amity started as it is a famed college and my elder cousin also passed four years here. I thanked Allah(swt) when I got selected for Civil Engineering in ASET.I was unaware of the storms and thunderstorms in form of faculties, hods, semesters, assignments, minors, majors etc waiting for me. If I was aware of all of future happenings in Amity, I would have quit. But that is life and we have to face and adjust ourselves and for the things to go in right way. From here my journey of semesters started.
I divided my four years into semesters and aimed at happy ending of each. Though every semester seemed to be tough but I made myself tougher. First semester started with shaking hand with Drona, he was CR. But what the hell is CR ? I asked him and he replied proudly. I said to myself that be ready for all these foolish stuff. In my first class I was sitting ahead of backbenchers(second last seat). All of them were vampires in the eyes of faculties. But they became my best buddies. So I also became one of them. First semester just passed in recognising room numbers and how to reach to different labs. Also there were new terms like proxy,OD,PL. The most frustrating was auxiliary notebook which was used to take readings.
Second semester gave me some good feel at Amity as the time table was loose compared to last sem’s. But I also understood aim of some faculties. There aim was just to pass time in form of classes and torture students in form of attendance. We were asked to reach the class before time. I always thought that “ohhh, we are humans not machines.we can not follow every second, we can be late”. But  there was no one to understand human nature. Faculties showed harsh behaviour and I with my group mates showed harsher behaviour.I was sent out of classes and lashed by words numerous times and I never regret for all of this. There is a quote by Umar bin Khattab (ra) :

“Sometimes people with worst past create the best future”

Exams came continuously and I was always same for every exam whether it was a minor, a major or an internal because I never prepared. Here I followed Edison who said :

“Tomorrow is my exam and I have not prepared of it because a piece of paper can not decide my future”.

And this is cent percent truth. Exams are nothing just copy-paste of questions from class rooms  to examination halls. In the class faculties do not know what to teach and how to teach, in examination hall I did not know what to write and how to write. All exams ended well I was never afraid of results because they gave me marks of my one night study not my full capacity and knowledge.
A new thing emerged and that was internship. If you want us to become industry ready then what is the need to concentrate only on theoretical concepts not the practical concepts in the classes. I also faced it. Both the time the rudest person was my guide and I was awarded least marks in the whole ASET. Though marks were more than 0.
Foreign language was also one of the irritating thing which pinched me on every Monday. Still I am not able to speak English fluently than how can you suppose that i can become a powerful Spanish learner. Time kept on going and I am still at 3-4 words of Spanish.
The best thing of my time spent in amity was support of my colleagues, every classmate of mine helped me and contributed to my personality. I am thankful to you all. Specially Chochu group and Piyush,Anilesh,Abhinav,Nilay,Rohit I can not imagine my life without you all. Every cherishing moment of my college life is connected with atleast one of you. Sometimes my heart beats faster that after college what will happen but I always tell a lie to myself that my college life will never end.
That’s life we have to move on for a brighter side. I didn’t get best things in Amity but I enjoyed them in the best way. I also did not get easy tasks but I enjoyed facing hardships. If I got some ease then automatically it was converted into some difficulties. I enjoy facing it with difficulties. This blog I am writing is at last moments just before the time deadline. I got much time to write it but again I am near to deadline.

I hope that I will get chance and change many rules and regulations inside Amity as well as outside Amity.

Future prospects of Civil + MBA

Pursuing  b.tech civil + MBA opens the door to a lot of opportunities, career options rather than just a technological background. As b.tech degree would give us technical knowledge and helps us to get a job in a core civil construction branch and on other hand an MBA degree would enhance he managerial ,business skills that would help us to get a managerial level job and combining the duo would open the possibilities to do work in either of the two aspect or the managerial task of the technical field.

Some of the aspects are as follows:-
  • Can work in any construction company as managerial head of any department like quality, finance etc.
  • Can work in the marketing department of real estate company.
  • Can work as a site engineer .
  • Can work in various MNC’S under various departments.
  • Gives us an edge over others if we want to be an entrepreneur
  • Can work in any company other than construction industry.
  • Can work as a research analyst in any research firm.
  • We can open our own consultancy regarding construction management.
  • Doing MBA with any civil technical degree enhances our chances of promotions
  • We can get a greater preference in any company as we are technically and managerially sound.
  • We can work in the public sector jobs more efficiently.
  • We can get the advantage of this degree if we apply abroad as they prefer the techno managerial candidates.
  • We can even work in banks as we have MBA degree
  • We can start up our own business ventures.

So there is a whole world of possibility for students who are pursuing B.TECH CIVIL+MBA ,the only thing is to see the whole world as a stepping stone to success.

Change is the law of nature

My college life has been of highs and lows and I mean it literally, sometimes high on spirits sometimes high on thoughts and sometimes high on dreams, so in a way I am known to people as a person who is always high. Well I don’t think I need to explain it further. But to be serious I have seen lot of change in myself in the last four years as when I came to college I was a guy who jumped ques, wasn’t serious at all, did blunders in my life which I left behind and came to start a new life but as they say your past daunts you always same was with me. Initially I didn’t get along very well with people maybe cause of my aura that wasn’t so friendly but I was always very friendly from inside.
Never mind days passed and I made great friends people finally began to understand me and I got their support, my classmates love me and yes I can proudly say that they do. I am a star of the class in my own way, and I love the welcome I get as I enter in the class. I am proud that I gained a sense of reponsibilty towards myself, my career and my life. I became aware of people who matter in life and people who don’t, family was always beside me and I am thankful to them for that and this gives me inner strength to do something for them which im sure il do . Well for my college and teachers I would only like to say no matter how good or bad you’ve treated me, it was fun thank you for all the ups and downs AMITY..

I am a changed man and I am happy. J

College Days

As soon my schooling got over, I was very excited about college life. I had already made my mind either to take petroleum engineering or civil engineering.  So I tried hard take petroleum engineering   as it was my first priority between the two. But I was not able the crack the exam for it. So I searched colleges for civil engineering.  And that’s how I landed in Amity.  I was excited and nervous   on the first day of the college. I sat quietly at the last row and attended my lectures and first day passed. But on next day I talked with my classmates and started making new friends. My first semester passed in exploring the campus. First semester was very hectic as we had classes from 9 in morning to 5 in evening. But still we managed to refresh and relax our self by bunking the classes. And as section we bunked our classes the most in first semester. With start of second semester I had some good friends on whom I can trust.  With them I enjoyed lot and we hanged together in H block. We together had lot of fun on our first college fest.

In second year the most memorable event was military camp that was organised for us. And I would like to thank our director for it. We learned a lot about team building and enjoyed all the adventurous activities there. And in second year on I had my first trip with college friends. We went to Agar and enjoyed a lot there.  After the trip our bond of friendship also became stronger. Exam days are tough day in every student’s life but somehow I managed to prevent any backlogs.  The days passed on and I made two more trips with my friends in third year. There is lot to share but I would to end like here only.  I have always tried to live each and every day of college to the fullest. Obviously there were some up and downs in this three year’s journey but I would like to keep positive side of it. I would like to thank all my friends and now I am enjoying my last few days left in college to the fullest.
