My first day at amity had me anxious about anything but
ragging. But surprisingly not even a single senior even asked for an
introduction. First month was occupied in understanding the structure and norms
of the college. The terminology of “X-Y batches, tutorial classes and auxiliary
notebooks (which funnily, I bought a new one every week before the practical
class)” was new and gave us the idea that contrary to the public belief classes
did occur at Amity. Our section was then divided, and I found myself as a part
of new smaller section . I liked the
small size because it gave us a better chance to interact with the faculties.
Then the groups started budding up. We made friends, we fought and the circle
continued. Amidst our hectic schedule Behavioral Science and Communication
Skills classes provided us some refreshment. My first semester ended I some
pretty decent result.
I don’t know why some people criticize the university
because it’s a pretty organized and a well infra-structured one. Of course we
can’t compare it with the IIT’s and all, but we all never got through JEE and
we knew what we were signing up for before taking admissions. Besides the
innumerable classes the college gave me some of the finest friends namely
Abdullah ,Abhinav ,Piyush ,Anilesh ,Ashutosh, Abhishek , Varun and last but the most unique Rohit. These
fellow sailormen helped me cruise the
ship of my engineering through some pretty rough water, which on most occasions
were consequences of our own actions. Our group was always the wild one. We
presented some real challenge to our faculties . Classroom was our arena in
which we never failed to light everyone’s face with frequent smiles and laughs.
I was very punctual at being late for the first class, which lead to many
scenes of requests and confrontations with the faculties.
People always term their life at B.Tech as miserable, I’d like to differ as mine was awesome. We
explored places at our college, around college ,Delhi etc. First day ,first
show movies every Friday ,frequent parties, cricket at E1 ground, bowling
sessions, missing minors for a game of cards were included in our college
timetable. Our favorite spot at H Block , the wicked sense of humor of us
people, and many more made our life as
easy as it gets. I would not say that ,”life at Amity is 3 A’s,
Attendance, Assignments and Amizone” as
mentioned by a friend of mine, because attendance was never a problem ,we never
made the assignments and Amizone was a dear friend of us. No story is complete
without a tinge of love, and I had my share of it too. Along with fests
,sangathan, and other events ,one thing that can’t be forgotten is the Military
Camp. Be it the chanting of “Bijli” while marching, late night chat sessions , daily dose of putting a blanket
over someone’s head and beating him, ‘exclusive’ use of fire extinguishers and
countless more, that was an amazing experience. I think Amity should provide
atleast 2 of such trips for every batch.
The two internships provided me with some decent experience
at work as well as personally. The exploration of NFC and the reasonable
restaurants of Batla house during lunch
time was definitely the thing I never had in mind when I heard about
internship. I learned a lot of the practical aspects of engineering during the
trainings. I would definitely like to praise Amity for having two mandatory
internships. The submission of projects and much hyped viva was always
enjoyable. Our group was never a law abiding one and although I am not going to
mention them here, we have played with some dangerous rules at Amity. It was
dangerous but fun too. So on the concluding note I would like to thank the
university as it helped me become a good engineer and for all the good time I had
in it. I would also like to thank our communication skills faculty Mr. Parveen
Kumar for motivating me almost at gunpoint for writing this.
